Indoor electric go-karts are rapidly becoming the go-to choice for thrilling and environmentally friendly racing. But just how fast can these karts really go?
Typical Speeds of Indoor Electric Go-Karts
Electric go-karts, like the ones we use at SpeedQuest, can typically reach speeds of 20 to 45 kph (12 to 28 mph). This speed range is within Ontario’s TSSA (Technical Standards & Safety Authority) regulations, which cap speeds at 45 kph for public use.
Sodi Karts: Maximum Performance
At SpeedQuest, we use Sodi electric karts, which are capable of speeds up to 100 kph (62 mph). However, for safety and compliance with TSSA regulations, we tune these karts down to the 45 kph (28 mph) limit. This ensures that racers still experience the excitement and thrill of high-speed racing while maintaining the highest safety standards.
Why Electric Karts Are Exciting
Instant Torque: Electric karts accelerate quickly due to their torque, giving you that thrilling rush as soon as you hit the pedal.
Smooth and Eco-Friendly: Electric motors make for a quiet, smooth ride and are also environmentally friendly.
